Parts of a Refrigerator

There aren’t many homes that don’t have a refrigerator in the kitchen. It’s been a must-own household appliance for many years. A residential refrigerator stores your food and drinks at the optimal temperature, to eliminate spoiling and stop the growth of bacteria. The process of refrigeration starts by transferring the heat from inside of the appliance to the exterior, by relying on principles of evaporation and condensation.

The standard parts of a refrigerator are below. For questions or service call Buckner Appliance Repair:

Compressor

A compressor is both a pump and motor, and it is necessary for circulation of refrigerant dispersed in the cooling system.
A compressor is a very important part of a refrigerator. You should hire a professional service if the compressor stops working.

Condenser

A condenser is found on the rear exterior wall of the appliance and is there to emit the warmth collected from within the refrigerator then out in the surrounding air.

Evaporator

The refrigerator evaporator is located in the interior of the refrigerator where it absorbs the heat held inside of it, effectively reducing the interior temperature.

Right when the evaporator stops working, it is time to call a professional. You should not wait until it is too late.

Expansion Device

Liquified refrigerant is directed through a capillary tube that serves as an expansion device as it cools the gas inside, transforming the gas back into a liquid.

Thermostat

The refrigerator thermostat will regulate the temperature in the interior of a refrigerator, starting the cooling period when it is necessary.

The thermostat inside of a refrigerator is often prone to problems. Troubleshoot and call a repairman in CITY for repair right after a problem occurs.

How Does Refrigeration Work?

1. Once the temperature inside a refrigerator goes above the set point sensors notify the refrigerator compressor to begin, and then the cooling cycle starts. The refrigerator collects the cold liquid refrigerant, pressurizes and condenses it, and raises the temperature, turning it into a gas form.

2. The refrigerator compressor pushes the heated gas in the direction of the refrigerator condenser coils located on the outside of the unit, at which point it comes into contact with warmer air temperature in the home and returns to a liquid state.

3. The cooled liquid then continues on its trip to the refrigerator evaporator, pushing through the coils on the interior of the refrigerator and top freezer compartment.

4. The refrigerant absorbs the warm air from inside the appliance, reducing the temperature back to the correct final point.

5. The refrigerant will evaporate, and will turn back into a gas, and returns to the compressor to then continue the cycle.

Refrigeration is often used in many applications and large appliances, this includes heat pumps, air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers. By extracting heat from a single place and transferring it to elsewhere the cycle of refrigeration aids in cooling a home, provides a safe environment for food that is perishable, and helps with the manufacturing and storage of many different common products and materials.
